Moses Kuria Sends Strong Message to Mt Kenya After UDA Sweeps Three By-elections

Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has stirred fresh political debate after addressing the Kikuyu community and the wider Mt Kenya region following United Democratic Alliance (UDA)’s clean sweep in three recent by-elections.

Kuria used the outcome to deliver a pointed political message, arguing that the results reflect President William Ruto’s continued national strength and should not be ignored by voters in Mt Kenya as the country edges closer to the 2027 General Election.

According to Kuria, the by-election victories are not just routine wins for the ruling party but a reflection of deeper electoral realities shaping Kenya’s political direction.

He suggested that the results demonstrate UDA’s sustained influence across multiple regions outside Mt Kenya, which he believes is critical in determining national outcomes.

He further argued that political blocs should be assessed not only by their visibility or vocal influence but by their numerical strength at the ballot.

In his view, some regions may appear politically dominant in public debate, but lack sufficient voter numbers to single-handedly determine the presidency.

Kuria pointed out that regions such as Rift Valley, Coast, North Eastern, and parts of Western Kenya collectively hold significant voter populations, which he believes continue to bolster President Ruto’s electoral prospects.

He said the recent by-election outcomes reinforce this pattern, showing that UDA’s support base remains intact beyond traditional strongholds.

The former Gatundu South MP also directed his remarks specifically to Mt Kenya voters, warning against assumptions that the region alone can determine the outcome of the next general election.

He cautioned that overestimating regional political influence could lead to unexpected political surprises in 2027.

Kuria maintained that his analysis is based strictly on electoral numbers and observed political trends rather than speculation.

He insisted that he will continue sharing his perspective even if it attracts criticism or disagreement from political opponents and sections of the public.

His comments come at a time when Mt Kenya politics remains highly fluid, with shifting alliances and increasing debate over loyalty to the current administration.

Several leaders from the region have recently expressed mixed views on their future political direction, adding to uncertainty ahead of the next election cycle.

Political analysts say Kuria’s remarks are likely to fuel ongoing discussions about regional voting power, coalition building, and the strategies major political players will adopt as 2027 approaches.
