Speaking on Wednesday, February 25, the Nairobi Senator clarified that blue is one of the official colours recognized by ODM in its party constitution, alongside orange and white.
His remarks come amid criticism from some political quarters suggesting that the dominant blue branding in the rallies indicates a political realignment.
Sifuna explained that the perception that ODM is strictly associated with the colour orange is a misunderstanding. According to him, the party’s founding documents clearly state that it has three official colours.
“Who told you that orange is the only colour for ODM? People should read the party constitution instead of relying on propaganda,” Sifuna said. “ODM has three party colours — orange, blue and white. Blue has always been part of our campaigns and is officially recognized in the party constitution.”
The senator noted that the debate surrounding the colour scheme of the rallies was part of a broader effort by critics to undermine his position as the Secretary General of ODM.
The Linda Mwananchi rallies have been organized by a faction of leaders allied to Sifuna and other party figures who have expressed reservations about the current political direction taken by some ODM leaders. The rallies aim to mobilize grassroots supporters and discuss issues affecting ordinary citizens across the country.
Sifuna also addressed the widening rift within ODM, particularly between his faction and the Linda Ground group led by Oburu Odinga.

According to the senator, disagreements among party leaders became evident during the “ODM at 20” anniversary celebrations, where conflicting views emerged regarding cooperation with President William Ruto.
He recalled an incident during the event where some leaders declared their intention to support a two-term presidency for Ruto, remarks that he said were not shared by everyone present.
“One of the leaders stood up and said we are all for two terms, yet I was seated there and made it clear that I was not part of that position,” Sifuna stated.

“To avoid unnecessary confrontation, we decided it was better to organize our own rallies separately.”
Sifuna further accused the Linda Ground team of using the legacy of the late Raila Odinga to justify their continued participation in the broad-based government arrangement with President Ruto.
“They keep saying that Raila left them in the broad-based government and that they should remain there. But they forget that Raila also left them with Sifuna as their Secretary General,” he said.
Additionally, Sifuna dismissed claims that his political stance was influenced by personal interests, including allegations that he was denied a Cabinet position in Ruto’s administration or that he had demanded financial incentives to support the government.
To support his argument, Sifuna revealed that he had presented a copy of the agreement that established the broad-based government between Odinga and Ruto. According to him, the document shows that he was not among those who signed the deal.
The senator insisted that his position remains guided by principles and loyalty to ODM supporters, saying the Linda Mwananchi rallies will continue across the country as leaders seek to engage citizens on governance and accountability issues.
