Thousands of supporters lined the streets on Sunday, February 15, as Sifuna and his allies made a grand entry into the bustling Kajiado town.
The leaders, who have openly differed with ODM’s top leadership, addressed a charged crowd that chanted pro-Sifuna slogans and waved party colours in solidarity.
The delegation included Siaya governor James Orengo, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi and Vihiga senator Godfrey Osotsi.

The leaders used the rally to criticise President William Ruto and ODM party leader Oburu Oginga, accusing them of betraying the party’s core ideals.
At some point, the crowd broke into chants of “Sifuna Usilale” and anti-government slogans, signalling strong backing for the embattled ODM secretary general who was recently removed from his party position over alleged misconduct.
In a statement shared after the rally, Sifuna thanked Kitengela residents for turning up in large numbers despite what he termed as harassment and intimidation.
“Thank you Kitengela. In spite of all the harassment, intimidation and violence from this morning, you showed up. They first destroyed our dais and sound equipment in the morning, the state goons have now teargassed a peaceful assembly and brought it to an abrupt end. We shall not relent,” Sifuna said.
Earlier in the day, the senator had attended a church service at ACK St Peter’s Orkeju in Kisaju, Kajiado county, before proceeding to the rally.

While addressing congregants, he said the overwhelming public support demonstrated that many Kenyans were ready to defend democratic space.
“I want to thank Kenyans for saying ‘Nyinyi ndio Sifuna’. You give me comfort that even if they finish me today, there will be 15 million Sifunas to protect Kenyans,” he told the crowd.
Governor Orengo, on his part, declared that Ruto would serve only one term in office, further alleging that certain leaders had received funds from the president. He challenged them to return the money, asserting that political change was inevitable.
The rally came amid claims by Sifuna that there were plans to disrupt the Linda Mwananchi Tour. He alleged that certain ODM officials were working to frustrate their activities following differences over a suspected ODM-UDA coalition ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Despite the tensions, the leaders maintained that they would continue engaging wananchi across the country, insisting their movement seeks to defend citizens against alleged oppression, corruption and extrajudicial killings.
The Kitengela event marks the latest chapter in the growing rift within ODM, as internal party wrangles spill into the public arena ahead of the next electoral cycle.
