"He Trusted Ruto Too Much" Betrayal Looms As KANU Inisder Alleges Moi's Blunders In Ruto’s Deal

Disquiet has rocked KANU party as president William Ruto remains silent over possible implementation of deal he struck with former Baringo senator Gideon Moi.

Rumours are circulating within KANU party that suggest that Ruto could have betrayed their party leader as he continues to consolidate his authority ahead of the 2027 elections.

This has raised new questions about the fate of a political agreement that was expected to return the Moi family to the center of national power.

Doubts are mounting over whether the agreement is still alive or has already fallen apart, with senior party officials accusing President Ruto of failing to honor the promises that persuaded Mr. Moi to abandon his bid for the Baringo Senate seat.

A senior KANU official who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter told Taifa Dijitali on Tuesday, January 6, 2025, that president William Ruto has shortchanged the KANU party.

“The President deceived us,” he said.

According to the official, their leader is unhappy despite choosing a trust-based agreement and did not push for it to be put in writing.

“There was no written agreement, but the President promised to bring us into government and give us positions. Our leader is unhappy.”

He noted that their leader Gideon Moi decided to trust Ruto’s promises and even invited him to speak to party delegates and, now there is no implementation at all, noting that there are no signs that anything will happen anytime soon

“Gideon decided to trust Ruto’s promises and even invited him to speak to party delegates. Now there is no implementation at all. There are no signs that anything will happen anytime soon.” he said.
