TZ Finds Out What Tanzanians Are Doing to Artists Who Performed in Samia's Campaigns, Takes Action

The Tanzanian government has come to the rescue of a section of local musicians and artists who are now considered outcasts.

Prime Minister Mwigulu Nchemba has admitted that they are aware that some are completely unwanted by the society for endorsing the ruling CCM party during the campaign period or performing in President Samia Suluhu's campaign events.

He has called for an end to this, claiming that the artists were only at work, and should not be considered members of the party or supporters of the president and her government.

According to Nchemba, nobody was asked for their CCM membership card before being allowed to entertain the crowds during the campaigns and the public should avoid misjudging the targeted artists.

"Today, there is an effort to divide people from all groups. Who told you that if you go to perform, you have to possess a membership card or that that those who performed were given membership cards?" he said on Wednesday.

This comes amid reports that Tanzanians have completely boycotted government-friendly musicians, refusing to support their projects.

Responding to his remarks, CHADEMA Central Committee Member, Godbless Lema, termed it good that the government has began to feel the heat coming from a united people.

The former Arusha Urban MP has asked Tanzanians to continue the boycott, suggesting that the Prime Minister should also be included in the list of boycotted persons.

"How come he is scared? Keep it that way, ban all the targeted musicians and ban him too. Unfollow him and boycott streams that carry his speeches."
