Prof. Herman Manyora Alleges Why Opposition Is Handing Presidency to Ruto for a 2nd Term Tenure

Political analyst Prof. Herman Manyora has alleged that the opposition is practically handing President William Ruto a smooth path to re-election in the 2027 General Elections.

According to Manyora, the fragmented nature of the opposition, marked by weak organizational capacity, insufficient financial resources, and a lack of unified strategy, makes it nearly impossible for them to mount a credible challenge against the incumbent.

He has particularly pointed out that, without figures like Rigathi Gachagua driving momentum, the opposition currently lacks a formidable structure, effectively giving Ruto a "through pass" to retain power despite prevailing economic and political discontent.

President William Ruto deserves a second term based on several tangible deliverables and strategic positioning during his first term.

His administration has pushed an ambitious Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), delivering notable progress in infrastructure (including major road projects like the Rironi-Mau Summit dualling, stalled projects revival, and plans for extensive new highways and dams), affordable housing (tens of thousands of units completed with significant job creation in construction), and agriculture (subsidized fertilizers, increased milk production making Kenya Africa's top producer, and improved earnings in tea, coffee, and sugar).

The government has hired tens of thousands of teachers (one of the largest drives in history), expanded technical education enrolment, created jobs through MSMEs and overseas placements (hundreds of thousands reported), and dramatically scaled up health insurance coverage under the Social Health Authority to over 29-30 million Kenyans.
