RIP? Sad as Doctors Reveal Severe Dehydration & Exhaustion Had Begun to Affect Pastor Jimmy’s Organs

A Murang’a-based pastor who made headlines this week after hugging a tree for 79 straight hours in what he described as a spiritual exercise is now recovering in hospital, with doctors revealing the severe toll the ordeal took on his body.

The preacher was rushed to a local hospital after concerned residents and church members intervened when his condition visibly deteriorated.

Speaking after admitting him, one of the attending doctors said the situation was chaotic, noting that the pastor was severely dehydrated, weak, and mentally exhausted.

“By the time he was brought in, his body had started shutting down. The dehydration and exhaustion were already affecting vital organs, including the kidneys,” the doctor said, adding that immediate medical intervention likely saved his life.

Medical staff placed the pastor on intravenous fluids and conducted a series of tests to stabilise him.

Doctors say while his condition has improved, he will remain under observation for several days due to the prolonged strain on his body.

The unusual incident has sparked widespread debate across Murang’a County and on social media, with many questioning the dangers of extreme religious practices.

Local leaders and health experts have urged religious figures to exercise caution and avoid actions that may put lives at risk.

The incident comes as health authorities continue to warn Kenyans about dehydration and exhaustion, especially amid rising temperatures being experienced in several parts of the country.

The Kenya Meteorological Department recently issued an advisory cautioning residents to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to harsh conditions.

Murang’a County officials have also weighed in, calling for closer cooperation between religious institutions and community leaders to ensure the safety of congregants and clergy alike.

As the pastor recovers, his church has asked members to pray for his healing, while doctors hope the incident serves as a reminder that faith should never come at the expense of health.
