Heroic Nurse Emerges After Nandi Helicopter Crash: Student Medic Jacobeth Jeptoo Praised for Trying to Save MP Johana Ng’eno

Kenyans are continuing to mourn the tragic death of Johana Ng'eno following a devastating helicopter crash in Mosop, Nandi County.

As investigations into the accident continue, attention has turned to the courageous actions of a young student nurse who tried to help victims moments after the crash.

The helicopter went down in the quiet highlands of Nandi County, turning what was meant to be a calm weekend into a tragic scene that left residents shocked and heartbroken.

The accident claimed the life of Johana Ng'eno, the Member of Parliament for Emurua Dikirr, who had served the constituency in Narok County for three terms.

Amid the confusion and panic that followed the crash, a young student nurse identified as Jacobeth Jeptoo stepped forward to help those involved in the accident.

According to witnesses, Jeptoo was among the first people to arrive at the crash site together with her mother.

Realizing the seriousness of the situation, she quickly rushed back home to collect protective gloves before returning to the wreckage to assist.

Despite the danger posed by the burning helicopter, she reportedly attempted to reach those trapped inside and provide any possible assistance before emergency responders arrived at the scene.

Her swift actions have since drawn widespread praise from the public and the medical community.
In a statement, the Nursing Council of Kenya commended the young trainee for her bravery and commitment to the values of the nursing profession.

“The readiness shown by this student nurse to respond to a life-threatening emergency even before being officially registered reflects the core values of nursing,” the council said.

“Her conduct demonstrates courage, compassion and dedication to saving lives.”

At the time of the incident, Jacobeth Jeptoo was awaiting her professional licensing examinations, which would allow her to officially join the nursing profession in Kenya.

Her actions quickly gained attention on social media, where many Kenyans praised her bravery and dedication.

Some users called on leaders and institutions to support her as she prepares to begin her medical career.

Others noted that her response illustrated the true spirit of healthcare workers, emphasizing that real medics are driven by a commitment to save lives whenever emergencies occur.

Meanwhile, authorities have launched investigations to establish the cause of the helicopter crash that claimed the life of Johana Ng'eno.
