Former Presidential Adviser on Government Project Implementation Moses Kuria, who resigned on July 8, 2025, have decided to apologise to residents of the Nyanza region for Mount Kenya’s political sins against former vice president Oginga Odinga and his late son Raila Odinga.
Moses Kuria, who is Labour Party leader and former Chief Economic Adviser to President William Ruto, Moses Kuria, noted that on behalf of the Mount Kenya region, apologized to the people of Nyanza for decades of political attacks and divisive narratives that targeted the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and his son, the late Raila Odinga.
Kuria expressed these sentiments through his official X account on Wednesday this week, focusing on the political history that portrayed the Odinga family as enemies of Mount Kenya during political campaigns.
“For 60 years, Kikuyus were sold the image of a devil by the name Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and Raila Odinga. It worked as a political weapon. After all, the church can survive without angels, but it cannot survive without a devil to fight. It was wrong,” Kuria said.
He emphasised that he offered the apology in good faith, saying that old political hostilities should not continue to divide communities.
“On behalf of the Kikuyu community and the people of Mount Kenya in general, I apologise to the Luo community. At the same time, two wrongs do not make a right. Uhuru Kenyatta and the Kikuyu are not enemies of the Luo. Do not allow us to be used as a political tool. We should not sustain this demonising narrative for another 60 years,” Mr Kuria added.
