Alai Alleges Raila's Close Family Member Who Is Secretly Helping Sifuna to Destroy ODM Before 2027

Political divisions continue to deepen within former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s ODM party as the 2027 General Election approaches rapidly.

Some politicians have been seen lying low, with accusations that they are at the forefront of ensuring the party does not make it to 2027.

Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has accused Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna—allegedly supported by the daughter of the late former prime minister, Winnie Odinga—of persistently criticizing the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), stating that both of them should be expelled from the party.

“And if Winnie Odinga, who also appears to oppose ODM’s alliance with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), supports Sifuna, then both of them should be removed from the party,” he noted.

Speaking during an interview with a local radio station on January 6, 2025, Alai, who has aligned himself with the Kenya Kwanza faction led by President William Ruto, stated that he and other politicians who support ODM’s cooperation with UDA and who back President William Ruto’s 2027 presidential bid are the ones who are truly loyal to ODM.

He added that he and others have the party’s interests at heart, unlike Winnie Odinga and Sifuna, who is reportedly being considered for removal from his position as ODM’s Secretary General and is also said to oppose the party’s political direction.
