“Why I Cut Short My U.K. Trip and Returned Home Early” – Gachagua

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said he decided to return home earlier from his visit to the United Kingdom because Kenyans need him more at this time.

Gachagua explained that he had planned to stay in the U.K. for one month, where he was expected to meet Kenyans living abroad, business leaders, and friends of Kenya. However, he said the current situation in the country made him change his plans.

Speaking during a meeting with supporters, Gachagua said many Kenyans are facing hard economic times and need leaders who can listen to their problems and speak on their behalf.

He added that he could not stay away for long while many citizens are struggling with the high cost of living, unemployment, and rising fuel prices.

Gachagua said he believes his presence in Kenya is important at a time when many people are demanding accountability and better leadership from the government.

According to him, leaders should remain close to the people and understand the challenges they are going through every day.

The former Deputy President also thanked Kenyans living in the U.K. for welcoming him warmly during his short visit.

He promised to continue engaging with the diaspora community in the future, saying they play a major role in supporting the country’s economy through remittances and investments.

His statement has continued to attract mixed reactions from Kenyans, with some praising his decision to return home early while others questioned the political message behind his remarks.

Even so, Gachagua insisted that his main focus remains serving and standing with ordinary Kenyans during difficult times.
