A case concerning a missing pistol that belonged to the late former Lugari Member of Parliament, Cyrus Jirongo, has swiftly drawn the attention of the detectives from the homicide unit.
The former lawmaker is believed to have been carrying a gun when the incident happened on the Naivasha-Nairobi route.
However, the gun was nowhere to be seen when his body was recovered from the car at the scene of the collision.
Rift Valley Regional Traffic Commander Sara Chumo revealed that homicide detectives had been quickly asked to investigate the circumstances surrounding the gun's disappearance.
In a statement to Nation Africa reporters, strict procedures have been put in place to prevent unauthorised access to the car wreckage at the Naivasha police station while the inquiry continues.
This strict procedure intends to protect any potential evidence that may assist the homicide detectives in uncovering the details of the case on Jirongo's death.
